- Great Wall, Badaling: The Great Wall at Badaling is located in Yanqing County, which is about 60 kilometers northwest of Beijing. Sitting at the highest point of the strategic pass leading to Beijing from the northwest, The Great Wall at Badaling consists of the main wall and several subordinate walls. In 1991 the Great Wall at Badaling, as a representative of the Chinese “Great Wall”, was listed in the "World Heritage Certificate" by the United States.
- Badaling Fortress : Badaling Fortress was built in 1505, it was 7.5 metres high, 4 metres thick. Badaling was actually a hub of communications in ancient times. The Badaling Fortress is about 600 meters above sea level. East of the Fortress is a huge rock seven meters long and two meters high. It is called Looking-Toward Beijing Rock. The name of the rock was from the Empress Dowager Ci'xi, who passed here as she fled to the north when the Eight Allied Forces invaded Beijing in 1990. From this big rock, she looked back and gave Beijing her last look.
- Beacon towers: Beacon towers are the oldest and most effective original telegram, and they are the most important component of the defensive project on the Great Wall. They are built continually to pass military messages. In ancient times, if intruders approached, soldiers on the wall would create smoke in the daytime and light a fire at night to warn their troops.
- " Looking-toward Beijing Stone ”: East of Badaling lies a big rock which is called Looking-Toward Beijing Rock. It is seven meters long and two meters high. It is said that Empress Dowager Cixi passed here on her fleeing to the north as the Eight Imperialist Powers were advancing on Beijing in 1900. At this rock she turned to look toward Beijing , thus it is called” Looking-Toward Beijing Rock”.
- Ming Tombs : The Ming Tombs were opened to the public in 1959. The Ming Tombs , which form a group of mausoleums, are those of 13 emperors in the Ming Dynasty (1368~1644).. The Ming Tombs are characterized by its large size, complete system, and intact preservation. Among the mausoleums, the largest is the Chang Mausoleum while the smallest is the Si Mausoleum, but all of them were built in roughly the same way.
