You may also get entry to the museum upstairs. As you may expect this museum is well funded and well laid out with the theme of Chinese revolutions since the Opium War (1839). Items displayed here come from the major events in Chinese modern history dating back to the Taiping rebellion of 1851. There is also a sub-theme of former Imperialism and oppression in China with displays such as boundary stones from the international settlement of colonial Shanghai. The highlight of the exhibition is a full scale model of the First Congress with wax models for each of the thirteen delegates, including Mao Zedong of course, in the middle.
At the end there is also a dusty souvenir shop where you can by some rather serious looking Communist Party themed items, such as display plates bearing images of the delegates.
