You wonderful Nanjing day trip ends here.
- Xiaoling Mausoleum: It was constructed for the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, the Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang. Starting in 1381, it took 25 years to complete the building. It is the resting place for the emperor and his wife, Queen Ma. In 2003, the mausoleum was selected as a site for the World Famous Cultural Heritage.
- Zhonghua Gate: Zhonghua Men Gate is the largest castle-style gate among the 13 ancient city gates in Nanjing. It's the best preserved and, architecturally, most complicated ancient castle in the world. The elaborately designed castle contains three closed courtyards and four arched gates serving as entrances to the city.
- Ming City Wall: When Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, built his sovereignty in Nanjing, he took the suggestions of his advisor to build a city wall. It took 21 years to complete, involving 200,000 laborers to move 7 million cubic meters of earth. Today the 600-year-old city wall of Nanjing still stands.
- Xuyuan Garden: It is a typical classical garden in South China. It was originally a garden in the Price Han Residence. With an area of about 14,000 square meters, the artificial hills, rocks, buildings and ponds in the garden are well designed and arranged. The grass, flowers, bamboo, trees and fish swimming in the pond reflect the owner’s spiritual pursuit. Now the garden is composed of a number of tourist attractions, such as the marble boat, Xijia (sunset) Building, the office of the Provincial Sun Yat-sen, Waterside Pavilion of Beaming with Delight, Fangsheng Pavilion and Chamber of Rippling Waves.
- Yuejiang Tower : Yuejiang Tower in the northeast Nanjing looks out over the broad sweep of the Yangtze River. The 50 meter high pagoda is built in the style of the Ming dynasty. The tower's walls and beams are painted red and dark green, and the glistening ceramic roof tiles are the shade of yellow once reserved for imperial buildings. Beneath the tower, a section of the Imperial city wall wraps around the base of the forested hill. The tower's highest balconies offer a breathtaking view over the broad Yangtze River.
