- Former Residence of Lu Xun: Lu Xun is considered to be the father of China's modern literature. The inconspicuous entrance of Lane 132 Shanyin Road leads into the small, traditional Chinese compound where the famous writer Lu Xun (1881-1936) spent the last three and a half years of his life.
- the Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen : Revolutionist Sun Yat-sen lived here with his wife Soong Ching-ling from 1918 to 1924. Some overseas Chinese donated money to buy the house for Sun to support his revolution. It is a European-style garden house beside Fuxing Park. Some precious photos are still kept here, including group photos of the Communist Party and Kuomintang.
- Zhou House : Zhou Residence is located at No 73 Sinan Road. The red door of this French style garden house bears the words reading "Zhou Residence" and "Residence of General Zhou Enlai." During 1946-47, this was the Shanghai representative office of the Communist Party of China. Zhou held many important press conferences and met with many famous patriotic personages here. Officially turned into a memorial hall in 1979, the house exhibits some of the precious articles and documents written by Zhou.
- the Former Residence of Madame Song Ching-ling: Along a quiet stretch of the French Concession lies the former residence of Soong Ching-Ling. Though she was the wife of Sun Yat Sen, Soong Ching-Ling is also deeply respected in China as a great stateswoman in her own right. This residence was given her in 1948 by the then government as a sign of this respect, and she lived there until 1979 before moving to Beijing where she died in 1963. The building was constructed in 1920 and is in a mix of Western styles. Here she received many of the great statesmen of the time, including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Liu Shaoqi.
