Day 2 Nanjing
After breakfast in hotel, the local guide will pick you up and escort you to tour around Nanjing for a whole day. Today you will visit the following highlights:
- Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen: It is situated at the foot of the second peak of Mount Zijin (Purple Mountain) in Nanjing, China. Construction of the tomb started in January of 1926 and was finished in spring of 1929. The architect was Lu Yanzhi, who died shortly after it was finished.
- Linggu Temple (Soul Valley): This historical scenic spot has Linggu Temple and Pagoda, Beamless Hall, etc., and a public cemetery of fallen soldiers. Linggu Temple keeps the parietal relics of Monk Xuangzang. The name of Beamless Hall is from its special structure, there isn’t even one piece of wood or beam. The altar before Tan Yankai’s tomb is an original relic of Yuanmingyuan Garden.
- Ming City Wall: When Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, built his sovereignty in Nanjing, he took the suggestions of his advisor to build a city wall. It took 21 years to complete, involving 200,000 laborers to move 7 million cubic meters of earth. Today the 600-year-old city wall of Nanjing still stands.
- Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge: In the north-west of the Yangtze River, connecting the urban areas with the Pukou District, Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge is one of China's own design and construction of double-lane highways, railways dual-use bridge, December 29, 1968
- Nanjing Museum : It is one of the museums that our country established first. The predecessor of Nanjing Museum was the preparatory department of the National Museum, which was established in 1933, under the purpose of Mr.Cai Yuanpei, who was the modern democratic scholar.
- Nanjing Confucius Temple : Centered on the ancient Confucius Temple (Fuzi Miao), this neighborhood in southern Nanjing is the place to be on weekends and holidays. Day 3 Nanjing
Continue to explore this capital city of six dynasties after your breakfast in the hotel.
Today, the local escort will accompany you to visit Xiaoling Mausoleum, Xuyuan Garden, Yujiang Tower, Terrace City and Swallow Crag.
Farewell dinner is arranged in a decent local restaurant.
After dinner you will be transferred back to your hotel.
- Xuyuan Garden: It is a typical classical garden in South China. It was originally a garden in the Price Han Residence. With an area of about 14,000 square meters, the artificial hills, rocks, buildings and ponds in the garden are well designed and arranged. The grass, flowers, bamboo, trees and fish swimming in the pond reflect the owner’s spiritual pursuit. Now the garden is composed of a number of tourist attractions, such as the marble boat, Xijia (sunset) Building, the office of the Provincial Sun Yat-sen, Waterside Pavilion of Beaming with Delight, Fangsheng Pavilion and Chamber of Rippling Waves.
- Xiaoling Mausoleum: It was constructed for the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, the Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang. Starting in 1381, it took 25 years to complete the building. It is the resting place for the emperor and his wife, Queen Ma. In 2003, the mausoleum was selected as a site for the World Famous Cultural Heritage.
- Yuejiang Tower : Yuejiang Tower in the northeast Nanjing looks out over the broad sweep of the Yangtze River. The 50 meter high pagoda is built in the style of the Ming dynasty. The tower's walls and beams are painted red and dark green, and the glistening ceramic roof tiles are the shade of yellow once reserved for imperial buildings. Beneath the tower, a section of the Imperial city wall wraps around the base of the forested hill. The tower's highest balconies offer a breathtaking view over the broad Yangtze River.
- Terrace City: Terrace City was once the Palace in Dong Jin and in South Dynasty. People are accustomed to calling the walls between Jiefang Gate and Jiuhuashan Hill this name. Standing on the top of the city wall, the tourists can see Zhongshan Hill in the east, Xuanwu Lake in the north, city mansions in the south and Jiming Temple in the west. A museum about the history of Ming Dynasty’s City Wall stands here.
- Swallow Crag: In Zhidu Hill outside of Guanyin Gate, a grotesque peak by the riverside thrusts itself towards the sky, which looks like a flying swallow, hence the name. The Swallow Crag is strategically located and difficult to access, and under the crag, the waves are surging and roaring. It has been an ideal place for men of letters to express their feeling since ancient times.
