Locatedon373 Qingnian Rd, Hankou, Wuhan Museum is 300 miles west of Hankou railway station. It formally opened to the outside world on October 1st, 2001. It has a gross floors area of 17 834m2, with 600m2 exhibition area (of which 1000m2 is the exchanging exhibition hall). With its solemn and magnificient building, which combines the elegant oriental culture with modernized functions, the Museum affords a splendid view.

DAHW consists of the 5 parts of the Dawn of Jianghan(pre-historical period), Perfect charm of the Shang Dynasty (c.16th-11th B.C) and Graceful Bearing in the State of Chu(ancient Hubei) (The period of the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties c. 11th century 256 B.C.),Military Key Post(the period of the Qin, the Han, the Wei, the Jin, and the Northern and Southern Dynasties 221 B.C. — 589 A .D.), A City of Land and Water (the period of the Sui, the Tang, the Song and the Yuan Dynasties 518—1368),and the Thoroughfare Leading to Nine Provinces(the period of the Ming and the Qing Dynasties, and prio to Hankou's opening to commercial port). The exhibition takes gorgeous ancient relics as the dominant key, bases itself on historical data, and regards science as the criterion. With the display of bountiful historical relics, the restorations of the real original scenes, the application of advanced digital techniques, the exact backgrounds of historical materials and the exquisite artistic creations, the process of the development of the Wuhan area from pre-historical barbarism into a prosperous commercial and trade city in the Ming and the Qing Dynasties appears practically and distinctly before the visitors. AMW(from the time of Hankou's opening to commercial port to that before the Revolution of 1911)indicates the path that Wuhan followed, at the historical junture, from a traditional feudal town into a modern metropolis. It actually gives a definite and vivid description of the evolution in Wuhan's modern civilization by means of precious historical relics, rich historical data and apt mothods of demonstration, rendering visitors a completely new look of Wuhan, which owns striking regional peculiarities and is known as "the thoroughfare leading to 9 provinces".
The 3-special-subject art exhibition of CRTPD, ACA and PCAMQD, in particular, respectively displays in the artistic point of view the multi-category historical relics of bronze ware, jade articles, bamboo, wood and ivory carvings, inkstones, seals, snuff bottles, enamel and pottery.
